This very common skin condition is caused by a virus like the wart virus. It is very common in children and as per its name is very contagious. The lesions are a pearly looking lump, often with a soft white centre, which should not be squeezed as this can cause contamination and spread to both the person with the lesion and to others. There are several treatments which should only be used in severe cases. Generally, they should be covered with a band-aid and left to clear of their own accord which can be 4-12 weeks. The most common complication is secondary infection needing antibiotics due to scratching or squeezing the lesions.
