The patchy rash normally starts on the toro (body) known as a “T-Shirt” rash. The first lesion that appears is large, has a halo ring, is scaley and often mistaken for a fungal infection. They are not itchy. Multiple smaller lesions then appear of weeks. This is an opportunistic infection that is more likely when patients are run-down or have been unwell for an extended period. It is self-limiting, not contagious and will usually clear in 6-12 weeks.
